Odds and Sods

If I don’t post here for several days, it’s because of one of two things: 1) I have nothing to say, or 2) I am totally swamped at work and/or home and have no time to blog. In this case, the latter has been true. Power outages again (sigh).

It’s still pretty busy today, but by mid-afternoon I knew I needed to find a way of dumping some stress. I escaped from my office for a bit of a walk around the Millinnium Trail. It’s amazing how just 15 or 20 minutes in the fresh air can make all the difference to one’s state of mind.  All the drama of the day just falls away.

Speaking of drama, I have to admit to temporarily suspending my self-imposed news ban. After all, what’s going on in Ottawa is too good to pass up. Even my two youngest kids, who typically show no interest in politics, have been talking about the events and asking lots of questions. Yes indeed, we do live in interesting times!

  1. I agree about how interesting our Ottawa news it just now. What I’m not really clear about is what they’re fighting about. I feel like the news is all focused on what the parties are allowed to do and for how long, and with whom, but not so much on why they’re so up-in-arms in the first place. Is this really all about how fast Harper and his team are putting financial remedies in place?

  2. How great that your office is so perfectly situated to give you quick access to the trail.

I hope you haven’t been getting too abused by angry people over the latest power failures, like the last time you posted about it. We have a lot at stake at our house when the power goes out because Jade’s gram scale for her diet doesn’t work on batteries; if the power goes out, we can’t make her meals. (We’ve got to figure out some meals that we can freeze to tide us over in an emergency. Or find a means of back-up power.) But I still can’t imagine being angry enough over a one-hour power outage to make death threats.

Hmmm, I’m thinking it would be a good idea to start the Christmas goose an hour or two early this year. 😉
