Ventosa to Santo Domingo de la Calzada – Part 4

I had overdone it. Thirty one kilometres is a long way to walk in one day and my knees (both of them now) were letting me know they were not impressed. Not in the least.

I iced them using some ice cubes I found in the freezer in the albergue’s kitchen and took some ibuprofin (I was popping these things so much lately I started calling them my vitamin I) but I was feeling pretty discouraged. For the first time on this trip I doubted my ability to make it to Santiago. I told myself I would see how I felt in the morning before making any drastic decisions.

  1. Just caught back up again. Your storytelling is wonderful, Janet. I have been close to tears a couple of times, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about the small miracles and characters on your journey.

This must be a lot of work — thank you so much for sharing your journey with us.

  2. Thanks Fawn. Glad you’re enjoying this. I was afraid too much detail would make this a boring read for people, so it’s good to know that’s not the case – at least for you.
