The whole town is abuzz with excitement. Hockey Day in Canada has blown in the likes of Ron McLean and Don Cherry, the new Governor General and his wife, and a slew of hockey players – both professional and amateur. It’s almost sacreligious to walk around town WITHOUT sporting a hockey jersey. Today I wore an XXL one belonging to the Eagles, a hockey team from Old Crow. Tomorrow I think I might dig out one of Alan’s old Steve Yzerman shirts. Not being wedded to any one team (will I get shot for writing that?) it really makes no difference to me which one I’m wearing.
What’s great about this week is the upbeat mood around town. It’s mild, the light is coming back, and people are walking around with smiles on their faces. Life is good!
