OK folks, who can tell me what this is?
Nope, it’s not ginger root. It’s actually fresh tumeric. It was in my produce order this week. It’s not something I’ve ever seen before. Apparently a one inch piece grated is equivalent to about a half a teaspoon of dried tumeric. I think I’m going to try to dry some of this myself. According to my research, you boil it for 5 to 10 minutes, let it dry for several days, grate it, and you have dried tumeric that will keep for some time. Looking forward to trying this in some Indian food this week-end.
I get the food order as well and I was so bummed out that I didn’t get it. On the slip it said it was only for those with half orders!!
Did you try the spaghetti squash/chard recipe from the other week? Delicious!

Yes, the spaghetti squash/chard recipe was really good. If you know someone coming into Whitehorse in the next few days I will send you some of my tumeric. I don’t need it all.
